About

Douglas C. Dorrough, Ph.D. was born in Hawaii January 13, 1927. He left this world to those who knew and loved him on March 29, 2015. His career began when, at the age of 16, he won a scholarship to attend the Courant Institute at NYU. He went on to acquire diplomas at the University of Dayton, the University of Hawaii and North Carolina University, Chapel Hill. He had a long career focused on basic research in multiple fields and contributed substantially to the peer-reviewed literature. This site was created as a memorial to his life and his work.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria Adams, and his two sons David and Mark and their families. Please check out the In Memoriam page for preferred recipients of funds given in his honor.

  1. I did not have the privilege of meeting Doug but I worked with Victoria and I know her as an awesome person. He must have been exceptional and I wish the family peace and comfort in their memories.

  2. I never had the pleasure of meeting Doug either but I do know that Victoria served as his guardian angel going beyond the call of normal duty. Since Victoria is my niece, Doug would be related by marriage and go down in my records as her beloved husband. May the Lord strengthen her in this difficult time.

  3. I didn’t know Doug either, but I know and value Victoria as a friend and colleague. I read one of Doug ‘ s articles today. He will be remembered in the legacy of words and deeds and life and love he leaves behind. The depth of that legacy must be unfathomable.
